Miami - The essential! (Part 1)
Updated: Jan 26, 2020
Miami is... Pink, light-blue and yellow. Fun, rhythmic and artsy. A milkshake of the American dream and a Latin party (including food!). Beach-glam, sports cars and stylish hotels! Did I mention shopping? Welcome to Miami.

A day in Miami Beach
Morning – Healthy, positive Vibes: When I visit Miami, my hotel must be in South Beach! Walking, running or cycling (many hotels offer free bicycles) in the morning along the beautiful beach promenade gives you a positive energy boost to start the day. I would do this most mornings, before heading back to the hotel via Joe & The Juice to get a healthy juice (and if hungry, the Tunacado sandwich is my fave...by far!). Additional tip: If you are an early bird, you can also head to the beach around 7am for a yoga session with a beautiful sunrise, magical vibes! After this perfect start, I love having a late breakfast or brunch in the hotel and then changing into my swimsuit...it's time for some real Miami Beach time!
Afternoon - Beach or Pool?: Choose one of the beautiful hotel beach clubs (many offer day passes, even if you are not a hotel guest), or walk to the different colourful lifeguard towers and place your towel next to your favourite design! A magazine or a book and sun tan lotion...honestly, you don't need anything else...OK, maybe a watermelon juice or a refreshing lemonade, just raise your hand and ask one of the friendly beach bartenders!
For those that prefer more comfort, the swimming pool options in Miami come in all sort of shapes and vibes. One of my favourites is at The Confidante - that also happens to be my favourite hotel in Miami Beach - its pool and garden is elegant, chic and very relaxing; not to mention their service, food and drinks! If you are more into water sports, there is nothing more Miami like than renting a jet-ski (ask your hotel which one is the closest, there are usually many options).
Evening – Art Deco & Dinner Delights: When it gets cooler, change into a more chic outfit because we are going for an art-deco walk (yes, your red cat-eye sunglasses were made for this moment!). Start your casual tour anywhere in this neighborhood and admire the beautiful art deco buildings. I recommend checking the self-guided tour of "Free Tours by foot" and choose the itinerary. If you don't want to walk for too long you can jump on the free Trolley. Later, head to Lincoln Road for shopping and a nice dinner in one of the many restaurants in the area. Since I am a Ceviche lover I really like Ceviche 105 (Peruvian food); if it is your taco day try Taquiza or Charly's Tacos for vegan options!
And just like that, another beautiful day…would you add something else to make it even more beautiful? Let me know in the comments.
